At least seven people, including four women, were killed when a landslide buried a mud house in Loran village of Poonch district on Monday, 20 July amid relentless heavy rainfall.
The district has been severely affected by torrential rain since Saturday, pushing the death toll to 17, while six people remain missing. Rescue teams from the SDRF, NDRF, and the Indian Army continue search and recovery operations in the affected areas.
The tragedy follows widespread flash floods and landslides across the Pir Panjal region, prompting Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to return to Jammu to monitor relief efforts. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed officials to ensure that urgent aid reaches the affected households without delay.
