Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his comedic and supporting roles in Hindi cinema, died on Thursday at the age of 56 after battling lung cancer.
He was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai and passed away around 7 pm this evening. Khan had initially recovered from lung cancer but experienced a relapse eight days ago that required hospitalisation.
Khan was a familiar face in Hindi films for decades, appearing in movies such as Rowdy Rathore and Hera Pheri (2000). His recent films include Gadar 2, Badhaai Do, and Stree 2.
His career also extended to television, featuring in shows like Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. One of his best-known performances was in Welcome (2007), alongside Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. His iconic monologue, "Meri ek taang nakli hai, main hockey ka bahot bada khiladi tha. Ek din Uday bhai...", remains memorable.
At the time of writing, a formal statement from his family confirming the cause of death is still awaited.
