In an inspiring gesture towards education and academic research, retired professor couple Dr. Pannalal Goswami and Dr. Nandita Bhattacharyya Goswami have donated ₹1 crore, representing almost their entire lifetime savings, to Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University (KBVS&ASU) in Nalbari.
Both former faculty members of the erstwhile Cotton College (now Cotton University), the couple said the donation reflects their lifelong commitment to education and their desire to give back to society.
The funds are expected to support research in Sanskrit, ancient Indian knowledge systems, and heritage studies at the university. Their selfless contribution has been widely praised by the academic community and the public, with many calling it a powerful example of how education can remain a lifelong mission even after retirement.
