Delhi Police received a emergency distress call at 8:45 PM on September 21, 2026, leading officers to Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi, where they found a 17-year-old girl and her 17-year-old male friend. According to the victim's statement, three men aged between 25 and 30 presented themselves as police officers, separated the girl from her friend, and took her to a secluded area of the park. The men threatened the teenagers with a firearm and a knife, physically assaulted the male friend, and sexually assaulted the minor before fleeing the scene. The victim was subsequently admitted to AIIMS for medical examination.
Following the incident, Special Staff teams from the South-East District tracked suspect Asif to DM Office Road in Amar Colony on the morning of September 22. During the attempted arrest, Asif opened fire, discharging three bullets, one of which struck a head constable's protective vest. Police returned fire in self-defense, wounding Asif in the leg before taking him into custody and transporting him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Delhi Police deployed multiple investigative units to scan local CCTV footage and locate the remaining two suspects.
