Thirteen passengers and four crew members were injured after an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe turbulence on Tuesday, causing the aircraft to briefly lose around 300 feet in altitude, officials reported. The aircraft was carrying 145 passengers and crew members when the incident occurred. Sources said that the turbulence caused some passengers and crew to suffer minor injuries, requiring medical assistance upon the flight's arrival in Delhi. Emergency teams were on standby to provide prompt care.
The flight landed safely at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport with no further complications. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have initiated an inquiry into the cause of the turbulence to enhance passenger safety on future flights and secured the aircraft's flight data and cockpit voice recorders for analysis. Air India confirmed its commitment to passenger welfare and adherence to safety protocols during the event.
