A medical camp was organized on Wednesday in Santak and nearby villages affected by Dikhow River floods in Nazira. Nearly 100 residents received medical treatment and essential medicines to counter health challenges arising from recent inundation.
The initiative was led by Shiva Gogoi, senior journalist and Greater Sivasagar Press Club president, along with Syed Khairul Hassan, president of the Freelance Journalists Association, Nazira. Medical services were provided by Dr. Syed Maruf.
The camps took place in Santak Bormishing Gaon, Bogdai Gaon, and Garmur. Health workers reported a rise in skin infections, waterborne diseases, and gastric illnesses among the flood-affected populations.
Local residents claimed that government medical aid has been insufficient in reaching many affected areas, limiting healthcare access amid ongoing health risks. Organizers stated the camp’s goal was to offer immediate relief while drawing attention to the need for expanded medical support in remote flood zones.
Villagers expressed gratitude to the organizers and medical staff for delivering critical services during a period when accessing healthcare remains difficult due to flooding.
