On the 16th day of an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar protesting alleged exam irregularities, an AISA activist named Deepak was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from hypovolemic shock and severe weight loss.
Meanwhile, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s health also reportedly deteriorated after 16 days of fasting.
The protestors are demanding the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and compensation for affected families. The government has yet to respond to the demands.
Despite the health crises, the remaining protesters plan to continue their hunger strike and are organizing a march to Parliament on July 20.
