An IndiGo Airbus A320neo operating flight 6E925 from Patna to Lucknow was struck by lightning and severe weather at an altitude of approximately 17,000 feet on Wednesday while on approach to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. Despite sustaining visible damage to its nose radome—the protective composite housing covering the internal weather radar—the pilots landed the aircraft safely at 4:05 p.m., ensuring all 104 passengers and six crew members disembarked unharmed.

The flight crew alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) as a precautionary measure upon encountering the weather event. Following touchdown, post-flight engineering inspections revealed the dented nose section, leading officials to ground the plane for technical evaluation and structural repairs.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a probe into the incident. Meanwhile, IndiGo arranged an alternate aircraft to accommodate passengers booked on the plane's onward leg to Ahmedabad (flight 6E6968), which departed later that evening at 6:22 p.m.
