The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET-2026 retest on June 21, 2026, which many candidates found significantly tougher than the original examination. Consequently, even some of the top scorers received lower marks compared to their initial performance.

Vaishnavi Das emerged as the Karnataka state topper with 700 out of 720 marks (All India Rank 20), despite losing 10 marks from her original score. Suchita M., secured the second spot with 695 marks, down from her previous perfect score of  720.

The revised scores could affect their overall rankings, potentially influencing their chances of securing admission to their preferred medical colleges. Both toppers, along with several others from the state, have expressed their aspiration to study at AIIMS New Delhi.
