A 21-year-old laborer named Hemant was arrested in Gurugram for allegedly strangling his wife, Shalu, to death using a scarf after suspecting her character on the night of July 26–27.
Following the incident, Hemant attempted to mislead both her family and the police by bringing her to the hospital and claiming she had died of severe stomach pain.
