The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Blockchain.com to offer users access to tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs through the NYSE’s planned digital trading platform, pending regulatory approvals. This initiative aims to connect traditional equity markets with crypto-native investors by introducing blockchain-based representations of listed securities into a digital environment.

Tokenized stocks represent shares of listed companies in blockchain form, enabling features such as fractional ownership, extended trading hours, and faster on-chain settlement. The NYSE is developing this platform as a regulated alternative trading system (ATS), designed to allow 24/7 trading and instant blockchain settlement.

The partnership could provide NYSE with access to Blockchain.com’s large global crypto user base, which includes over 44 million confirmed accounts across more than 70 jurisdictions. Additionally, ICE Data Services will distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data to its subscribers, while Blockchain.com will add selected NYSE and ICE data feeds to its platform.

This development comes amid growing regulatory and industry focus on tokenized securities. The SEC has introduced an "innovation exemption" for qualifying venues trading tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchains, although the proposed Clarity Act remains stalled in the Senate. Meanwhile, competition is rising, with platforms like Coinbase also developing tokenized-stock offerings. The NYSE–Blockchain.com agreement marks another step toward integrating traditional securities markets with blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
