Indian pharmaceutical major Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited has disclosed that its wholly owned step-down US subsidiary, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Inc., was penalised $32,350.20 (approximately ₹27.1 lakh) by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The administrative penalty was levied due to a misclassification of the fiscal-year reference during a routine tax payment submission. The company received official confirmation of the fine through a final transcript issued by the US Department of the Treasury’s IRS on October 2, 2026, which was backdated to September 25, 2026.
In a regulatory filing with Indian stock exchanges, Dr. Reddy’s confirmed that the financial penalty is minor and will have no material impact on the company’s overall financial position, daily operations, or long-term business activities. The group’s core global pharmaceutical operations remain completely unaffected.
