The Karnataka government has challenged the High Court's September 21 order calling for an SIT probe into alleged irregularities in two KPSC recruitment exams.
The cases concern the selection of 50 industrial extension officers, including the KPSC chairman's daughter, and the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers. Allegations surfaced that middlemen demanded bribes up to ₹80 lakh and promised to manipulate OMR sheets.
Before the Supreme Court, the state argued that its CID had already gathered key evidence, such as original OMR sheets, digital devices, and frozen bank-account funds, and had arrested alleged conspirators.
The government contended that a new SIT probe could jeopardize existing evidence and ongoing custody and bail proceedings. It has requested a stay on the High Court order and urged continuation of the CID investigation.
