Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, alongside the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and city-gas distributors, launched National PNG Drive 3.0 to boost the adoption and use of piped natural gas (PNG) in Indian households.

This third phase, extending through FY27, aims to add 50 lakh new domestic PNG connections, activate 40 lakh existing connections, and onboard another 50 lakh domestic PNG registrations.

The campaign shifts focus from merely expanding PNG infrastructure to optimising the use of existing gas distribution networks by utilising underused capacity and encouraging active consumption among current users.

The initiative also supports a broader move towards cleaner household fuels by increasing natural gas availability for cooking and other domestic needs.
